"Basketball has always been more than just a game. It has served as a mirror of our society, a battleground for justice, and a bridge between divided communities. Few individuals have embodied that truth more completely than Pete Babcock…. This book is not just the story of a career; it is the story of a calling."

- Chuck Cooper III

"This book honors a man who has long believed that pursuing justice requires the same intensity as a full-court press." - Ken Dooley

"Pete Babcock leveraged his connections within the NBA and the game of basketball to promote social activism nationwide. He also had an outstanding career as general manager of three franchises, where he built teams that made the playoffs 14 out of 15 seasons, doing so with character and integrity." - John Calipari

COURTS OF JUSTICE

Pete Babcock had a 42-year career in the National Basketball Association (NBA), serving in various roles, including scout, assistant coach, director of player personnel, vice president of basketball operations, general manager, president, and minority owner.  In his new biography, Courts of Justice: A Life in Basketball and Activism, Babcock shares the behind-the-scenes story of his career in the NBA through the lens of the societal shift during and after the Civil Rights Movement. His time in the NBA was not just about the games and the players, but also about navigating controversial trades, and dealing with owners as diverse as the disgraced Donald Sterling to the visionary Ted Turner.
